Serenades 2026 will have a total of 12 concerts and this year they will start on Saturday 20 of June, coinciding with the celebration of Music Festival - the Festa de la Música, a cultural initiative that each 21 of June brings free concerts to the streets and public spaces around the world.
The opening will be in charge of theOrchestra of Valencia, directed by Alexander Liebreich and with the pianist Mao Fujita with the soloist. The Concert, which will be recorded and broadcast on the European channel ART, will include works by Mozart i Martin i Soler and will give the start to an edition marked by the coexistence of classical repertoire, contemporary music and new stage proposals.
The Valencian pianist Elena Font will star in Sunday's concert 21 of June with Ravel's dreams, a proposal built around the sound universe of Maurice Ravel in the year in which the 150 anniversary of his birth. The recital will also dialogue with the music of Claude Debussy i Manuel de Falla, tracing a route through some of the most influential languages of early 20th century European music.
Wednesday 24 June will be the turn of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia with Fanfares for rituals and liturgies, a show that will combine symphonic music and live lighting designed by LABLUZ. The proposal will bring together works of Copland, Joan Tower, Henry Tomasi iJanacek in a sound tour on the ceremonial and symbolic character of the fanfare.
the singer Christina Rosenvinge will arrive in Serenades on Thursday 25 of June to present The sapphic verses a formed trio, accompanied by Amaia Miranda i Magalí Datzira. The concert will reinterpret from contemporary pop the verses of Sappho and the songs composed for the play of the same name, combining Mediterranean sounds, folk and electronica.
Programming will continue on Friday 26 in June with the cinema-concert The Adventures of Prince Achmed, considered one of the founding titles in the history of animated cinema. The film of Lotte Reiniger, made using animated silhouettes, will be screened with live music composed and performed by Jorge Gil Zulueta, Paco Alonso i un ensemble instrumental.
Already on weekend, Saturday 27 of June, in the morning session and with free entry, the company Intertwined will present Barefoot, an inclusive dance-theatre proposal linked to the program La Nau Social of the University of Valencia. The show reflects on empathy, diversity and the need to stop to look at the world from the experience of others.
This same day, to them 22 hours, the Orfeó University of Valencia will offer (No) Res?, a concert focused on contemporary choral music and spiritual reflection. The program will include the absolute premiere of The cup is wet, by the Valencian composer Joan Gómez-Alemany, together with works of Rachmaninov, Tavener, Wax o Barber.
Jazz and flamenco will meet on Sunday 28 of June with ruming, the project of Parakeet Sambeat together with his Flamenco Quintet. The group will perform original compositions that explore new languages between contemporary jazz and traditional flamenco sticks such as buleries, alegries or tanguillos.
The Horta de Sant Marcel·lí Symphonic Band will star in the concert of 29 of June with Echoes of the horta and the metropolis: landscapes, party and tradition. The repertoire will offer a musical tribute to the duality between urban Valencia and the traditional landscape of the vegetable garden, with works of Manuel Palau, Rafael Talens, Women's Merchandise o Franco Cesarini. This concert will be held in collaboration with the city's oldest music festival: he International Competition of Bands City of Valencia.
He 30 of June, he Women's Choir A cau d'orella will celebrate his 20 birthday with the show Woman and voice: 20 years singing. The concert will have the collaboration of Casulana Quintet and will claim the role of women in the creation and interpretation of music through a repertoire for female voices.
The program will continue on July 1 with the performance of Calm down, singing, composer and double bassist born in San Diego and recognized for fusing jazz, soul, Latin American music. His proposal stands out for the mix of cultural influences and for a staging focused on voice and rhythm.
Serenades 2026 will close the 2 of July with Baroque passion, d’Harmony of the Parnàs, an interdisciplinary production that will combine baroque music and dance. The show, directed by Marian Rosa Montagut, will start from fragments of the opera Alcina, of Handel, to explore human emotions through musical interpretation and stage movement.
