Valencia exhibition 2024

Valencia exhibition, which is celebrated from 24 from October to 3 of November, This year, the Palm Tree of Honor will be awarded to Girona filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta. The festival thus recognizes the career of one of the voices with the most personality in Spanish cinema., with a filmography that has covered all the major festivals and the programming of the main art centers in the world. Besides, his latest feature film, Second prize, inspired by the trajectory of the indie group Los Planetas, has just been selected by the Film Academy to represent Spain at the Oscars.

On the path started last year with the premiere in Spain of Massimo Troisi: Somebody Down There Loves Me, by Mario Martone, Mostra de València-Cinema del Mediterrani launches the Cine Reencontrado cycle, which throughout its next edition proposes a series of documentaries that allow us to look back and recover films or figures of relevance in the context of Mediterranean cinema. This year Dario Argento will be honored, Marcello Mastroianni and
the Taviani brothers.

The festival once again offers in its Information Section a selection of ten titles that make up a diverse and representative vision of recent cinema shot in the Mediterranean basin.. A dozen proposals that, in addition to expanding the look at unusual cinematography in commercial theaters during the year, like the lebanese, egyptian, serbia, Portuguese or Greek, trusts in new authorships and in the commitment to problematize, from social comedy, nonfiction or unconventional narrative angles, a present full of turmoil and contradictions.

This year's Focus section is dedicated to the French-Tunisian filmmaker Nadia El Fani, whose career has been characterized since its beginnings by its willingness to question dogmas and bear witness to reality in the first person.. Months before the Arab Spring bloomed in their country, Nadia El Fani raised the anger of extremists with the documentary Secularism Inshallah! (2011), where he denounced religious hypocrisy and the need for a secular Constitution to promote the progress of Tunisia. Since then he learned to live with death threats and exile. But they didn't achieve their goal.: in Not even bad ('It doesn't hurt', 2013) brought to the screen the brutal persecution to which she was subjected for daring to question certain aspects of Islam, which also coincided with the period in which he was diagnosed with cancer.
