Urban and human essay, poetic symphony of images from New York - where Akerman lived in the early seventies- on which the filmmaker reads the letters her mother wrote to her from Europe during those months. A cult documentary in which the simple and everyday words of a mother who misses her daughter are intertwined with the portrait of alienation in the big city.
