Cabanyal is intimate, by nature, vulnerable. Each edition is a new risk, an artistic challenge, a tightrope walk without a net that takes place in different spaces in the neighborhood where the boundaries between the intimate and the public are diluted. In this new call, of the 7 al 10 of May we explore the beauty and creative power of human vulnerability, emotional and social.
To be vulnerable is to expose yourself, dare to take off the mask, strip off the superficiality and risk the eyes of others. Vulnerable are the bodies they create. The stories that are shared are vulnerable. Those who observe are vulnerable. And this is precisely where art makes sense:
in the possibility of affecting us, to excite us, of shedding our armor and allowing ourselves to be moved and transformed.
This May we celebrate the beauty of the fragile, the imperfect, the broken, the ephemeral, the unrepeatable. Because from our vulnerability is also born the courage that generates spaces for change and resistance, both individual and collective.
For all that, in these turbulent times of global rearmament, we invite you to disarm, to let you go, to strip you of the corsets that oppress us, to inhabit uncertainty without fear and recognize that what exposes us is also what connects us. Because art, when it is intimate and true, it is always—and must be—vulnerable.
