This program offers a tour through painting, sound and perception through the work of artists who made time their main subject. From the radical economy of Composition 1960 No. 7, by La Monte Young, where two sustained notes reveal the inner richness of the sound, fins a Rothko Chapel, Morton Feldman, conceived as a "canvas of time" in dialogue with Mark Rothko's pictorial space, the concert explores listening as an expanded experience. Between these two extremes, the landscape of The Grove, by John Constable, dialogue with the transformation of color and sound in Telemann and Scelsi, While Ricochet Lady, by Alvin Lucier, shifts attention towards the resonance of space and acoustic perception. As a counterpoint, the images of the Nevada nuclear tests burst forth as a witness to a historical temporality that runs through the entire program.
