CARME THEATERE. Gregory Gea, 6
Few things are more important than housing, that is why it is a right recognized in ours untouchable Constitution, but it has become a real privilege, especially in cities. However, they don't hang flags from their balconies demanding the collapse of the real estate bubble, the suspension of evictions or the regulation of rent. There have been one million evictions in Spain since 2008 (the Valencian Country is the third community in the ranking, ahead of Madrid), while the executive powers, judicial and economic sit comfortably in complacency and the media do not make too much blood. There are several resistance groups that, from his way of understanding the problem (occupation, demonstrations, neighborhood solidarity, platforms against evictions…) they try to face the situation bluntly, with action. A battlefield unfolds before us where it is often difficult to distinguish the sides, where friendly fire on too many occasions kills more and with more pain. It is born from this approach Salem, the new production of the Valencian company Indecents born from a Carme Teatre Creation Residency. He has written and directed the piece Isabel Martí, dramatist who already dealt with the subject as an assistant director in the work Ingovernables d’Atiro Done. In this case, there are several vital questions floating in the background: These are the cities where we want to live? These are the paradises that have made us leave the towns where we were born? Something good can grow on the asphalt of the city? AU
