In this capitalist world that pushes us to immediacy and demands constant productivity, wasting time becomes a subversive act. He mantra neoliberal that we can make our dreams come true if we try (the damn culture of effort), it generates frustration and guilt, that's why we have to enter this school of defeat where we are taught to fail, where the same dictation is written every day, where Music Day is celebrated in silence. In The Orchestra of Silence un professor inspirat en Robert Walser (the Swiss writer who wanted to shrink until he disappeared) and his asocial daughter pursue an impossible dream, disappear forever, to thin their egos and shed the heavy burden of being somebody. The piece is the result of a residency by Maribel Bayona at the first writing laboratory Ísula Dramatària Josep Lluís Sirera promoted by the Valencian Institute of Culture and has been co-produced by Teatro de lo Inestable and The Rambleta, which hosted its premiere in October 2020. He has received the Valencian Writers' Critic's Award for the best play published during the 2018 and the Theater Critic Award of the Association of Writers in the Catalan Language (EFTA) al 2019. A vindication of failure and defeat as a tool of liberation. AU
