OF FRIDAY 9/2 ON SUNDAY 10/3
RIALTO THEATER. Pl. town hall, 17
The Greek playwright Euripides wrote a tragedy titled The Trojans which narrates the destinies of Hecuba, Andromache, Cassandra and other women of Troy after their city was besieged, their husbands killed and remaining relatives sold into slavery. It is one of the best works written against the war and one of the most recognized by Euripides, and fits like a glove in the current context of violence in Gaza or Ukraine to make you think about yourself, after that, we can do anti-war theater, if there are wars that can be considered just. We will see the different characters from Euripides' work facing the evils of our time. The Trojans. Fucking nowhere and an own production of the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC) which makes it uncomfortable by giving a voice to the victims: the civilian population and, especially, to women and their children. Author Josi Alvarado and director Santiago Sánchez show us the Trojan women as beautiful and heretical women, Cassandra attacked by Ajax in the toilet of a bar, and next to her, women with more contemporary names such as Fátima or Svitlana. History does not have to repeat itself if they, the protagonists, they write the ending! ASSUME TAMARIT
