The Malquerida

PALACE OF THE ARTS. Of. by Professor López Piñero, 1

The opera season continues at the Palau de Les Arts and it is the turn of The Malquerida, a lyrical drama divided into three acts. Manuel Penella was inspired by Jacinto Benavente's work of the same name to create this opera with a grand zarzuela feel.. With the resounding triumph of The wild cat behind his back, Penella took a risk by taking him to the great theaters, in 1935, the text of the playwright Benavente that in 1913 conquered audiences and critics with this rural drama. After its premiere, and like a snowball that turns into an avalanche, The work was a spectacular success., even in Mexico, where this drama would know its film version and even a soap opera.
