II Contorsions

The circus festival Contortions It is a very new project, was born last year with the impetus of the Valencia City Council to try to reinvigorate a genre with little cachet but which in Valencia has representatives as interesting as the company Patricia Pardo, one of the artists of this edition with her new version adapted to sign language of Commissure [28/4]. Circus gestural and visual language predominates here., but the delirious monologue and live music also fit, a mix of classic and contemporary circus. The second proposal of The Mutant es He my nom and Hor [27/4], from the young Barcelona circus company Psirc, where Square Kahlert and Adrià Montaña tell an anecdote that happened to them during the process of creating the show through old-fashioned objects, unfinished puppets, stunts, acid humor and a disturbing play of light and shadow. And the third work, also Catalan, es Not [25/4], that speaks with simplicity and transparency about human relationships based on objects. The international grade will be given by TEM with the Belgian company D’irque & Fien and his Sol Flat [26/4], crane show, piano notes, juggling and gestural theater. Of course, there will also be a circus in the street. The veteran Scarlet Circus will set up a tent for fifty people in the Tinglado 2 from La Marina to interpret The Cause of Devotion; and in the Town Hall square the Tarragona band will perform hat pass (Zirkolika prize 2018) and the French company Circus of course, that will represent North Red, a work inspired by the Wim Wenders film Paris, Texas.
