Daughters of Mercy

FROM THURSDAY 10 ON SUNDAY 20/10
RUSSAFA ROOM. Dénia, 55

Daughters of Mercy is a show created from testimonies and real documents of four women who were taken in at the Casa de la Misericordia hospice in Palma. Angelines is interned by her parents because they cannot support her, Esperança enters because her mother wants to get her away from an abusive father, Magdalena loses her mother in childbirth and is hospitalized by a father with mental problems who ends up committing suicide, and María José ends up rejected there by her mother and her adoptive family. All four build a story of friendship and survival amid the stale Catholic education at the end of the Franco dictatorship. It is the other side of the coin of this drama filled with historical memory: the network of mutual support woven by all four to keep hope alive in the future. AU
