THE RAMBLET. Bulevard sud, cant. Pius IX
every year, for June, we remember the day 28 and from the aldarulls of Stonewall to New York, he 1969, as a starting point for LGBTI+ liberation movements in many countries. But the realities of the collective come from further back in time, between public repression and intimate experiences. The multi-award-winning theater work Elisa and Marcela, based on a true story of 1901, is an example. A base d’humor, of musical numbers and a drop of drama, tells the love song between two women who decided to get married in the Galician church of San Xurxo at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to some brilliant strategies to deal with the police persecution of those times. Thanks to the exquisite interpretation of the Galician company To Panadaría and a very simple staging, Elisa and Marcela is a high-quality theatrical creation that, in addition, brings the general public closer to LGBTI+ historical memory.
