The Swedish choreographer Johan Inger accepted the proposal of the National Dance Company of mounting a new version of Carmen. It was everything a challenge and a success at the same time, for a swede, bring new ideas to this piece with a marked Spanish character. Avoiding clichés and customs, Inger has been able to delve into the passion and violence that emanates from the original character of Carmen and has done so using the pure and uncontaminated vision of a child. This is how he has succeeded in reviving the operatic myth of Georges Bizet, with a clear and clean choreography that reveals the incredible strength of the dance and what not, the music of Rodion Shchedrin, interpreted majestically by the Orchestra of the Valencian Community.
