Aleix Saló has done it again, to explain to us the complicated and muddy Spanish political situation using newspaper archives, with overwhelming simplicity and touches of humor that help digestion. The premise from which it starts is the following: while we applied the label “facha” or “Nazi” to all types of ideas and characters in our ecosystem, the real fascists have slipped through the institutional cracks. With plain language and small accompanying drawings, Saló tells us in all nazis like the Spanish right (and western) elitist has adopted the anti-system language of the left and has redirected the political agenda to establish herself as the savior of the homeland with the invaluable support of traditional media and social networks. So the debate of ideas has become an identity battle that leads us to the abyss. A master class to understand the rise of the Trumps, Johnson and Abascal who do not limit themselves to denigrating these characters and their voters, but rather it offers a documented and plausible explanation for its growing popularity that invites the left to rethink attitudes and strategies..
