NY. 1942. We still have no news from Nikola Tesla, the only wise man who can still prevent his inventions from destroying the world... Thus begins an adventure in which, in the context of World War II, introduces an element of fantasy steampunk to give a twist to traditional plots set at this time. The action begins when Cathleen Coley and her son Travis move to New York after the death of the father of the family., with a disturbing old man as a neighbor on the stairs, feared by street kids. Travis, excited about inventions and technology, agrees to give him an encrypted letter that his new colleagues stole from him, although he postpones the meeting again and again due to the fear that the mysterious character inspires in him.. Meanwhile, A series of mysterious events occur in the East River: chases, disappearances and mysterious beings with masks and machinery that face each other in a parallel war. Finally, Curiosity will prevail over fear and Travis will approach the mysterious neighbor, which is none other than Nikola Tesla, the famous inventor mysteriously disappeared, pursued by his greatest rival and enemy, Thomas Edison. This, still dead and turned into a kind of cyborg, intends to steal his inventions to use them for war purposes. Travis will team up with the inventor, and also with Inspector Kelly, case investigator. The action of this first installment is interrupted at the point of greatest tension, when Edison's mysterious network and his henchmen intervene in the war in Japan...
The entire plot is accompanied by a wonderful setting and a spectacular staging, in which the design of all the details and aspects of the period are very careful, in code vintage y steampunk. They are addressed, besides, little-explored facets of World War II, such as technological development or the incorporation of women into the world of work, through the factories that provide logistical support to the contingents. Guilhem's drawing gives us wonderful panoramic views of New York City, along with dynamic action scenes following a classic line that evokes the comics of the time. In summary, Adventure lovers will enjoy this promising start to a series that is as entertaining as it is unconventional., that leaves us looking forward to new deliveries. RAQUEL J.R.
