East-West Street

COMIC

Philippe Sands, Jean-Christophe Camus and Christope Picaud · Anagram

Calle has plenty of pages East-West, a graphic novel with a clear line that debuts the collection Interventions of Anagram. It gets bogged down in legal stories that become leaden in comic format and divert attention from the main topic, so interesting and so topical that it makes everything worthwhile: the Nuremberg trials (where the banality of evil is outlined). We say current because there the concepts “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” were established for a nascent international justice system that today Israel is going through the roof.. Here's to Joe Sacco, the author of the book on which the comic is based, Philippe Sands, He enters and exits the narrative, weaving the legal plot with the personal stories of those who lived through the Holocaust., including his own family.
