The play that Manuel has put on in honor of his mother is a radical version of Chekhov's The Seagull. There is a reason behind this: her mother played Nina when she was young and it is the work she loves the most. Is a radical version of this work a tribute or a poisoned gift? Why do we do just the opposite when we want to receive love?? Esta obra va de gente que se equivoca\, que no consiguen lo que quieren o\, que para conseguirlo\, necesitan matar a una gaviota que pasaba volando justo en ese momento\, por encima de ellos\, innocent. \nEl aguante no es una reescritura de La gaviota. Sin embargo\, It is a completely Chekhovian work.. What does that mean? There is humor. There is pain. The intimate and the political. The present and its contradictions. Concern for the future. The search for a life in art. And the frustration of not having it. and love. and the desire. La gaviota es la única obra de Chéjov sobre el teatro. Para mí\, theater is important. De adolescente\, los viernes iba al teatro de la calle El Progreso del Puerto de Sagunto y me ocultaba en la oscuridad\, among the people. La gente que iba al teatro\, me parecía entonces\, we shared a secret. No sé cuál pero\, ahora lo sé\, it had to do with comfort. There it could be. Allí\, I dreamed of having a life in art. DESCRIPTION:Tarde de verano en Villa María\, a country house. Manuel is finalizing the premiere of a work. Los intérpretes son Jorge\, her boyfriend; Lorena y Rocío\, her neighbors; y Empar\, family friend. La función es en honor a su madre\, Marta\, a famous actress who lives in Madrid. Marta ha venido de visita con su novio\, Toni\, who is a playwright. Marta wants me to write her a new text. The problem is that Toni hasn't written since her husband died.. The play that Manuel has put on in honor of his mother is a radical version of Chekhov's The Seagull. There is a reason behind this: her mother played Nina when she was young and it is the work she loves the most. Is a radical version of this work a tribute or a poisoned gift? Why do we do just the opposite when we want to receive love?? Esta obra va de gente que se equivoca\, que no consiguen lo que quieren o\, que para conseguirlo\, necesitan matar a una gaviota que pasaba volando justo en ese momento\, por encima de ellos\, innocent. \nEl aguante no es una reescritura de La gaviota.
