The book will be presented on Thursday 24 de septiembre a las 19.30h en la librería Railowsky de Valencia y estará presente en Fiebre de la mano de Fuego Books. \n‘VIVA LA FOTO’ se compone de 91 fotografías y 758 palabras que parten de la sospecha del autor de que nos estamos tomando la disciplina demasiado en serio. \n“La fotografía ha muerto. Ya están hechas todas las imágenes. O las puede hacer un robot. Sólo queda disfrutar”. Así comienza la publicación que anima a quitarse presión de encima\, sugiriendo que no hace falta saberlo todo\, poseer un estilo definido\, buscar el triunfo o tener clara la intención detrás de cada imagen. \nA pesar de rehuir de la solemnidad\, el volumen también trata cuestiones como la historia\, la narrativa\, la autoría o la responsabilidad a la hora de retratar a terceras personas. Todo ello se articula a través de textos breves\, preguntas e imágenes. \nEl proyecto ha sido diseñado y escrito por el propio autor\, quien también firma las fotografías. La digitalización y la preimpresión han corrido a cargo del Estudio Paco Mora\, y la impresión del ejemplar ha sido realizada por La Imprenta CG.

DESCRIPTION:El libro será presentado por la fotógrafa\, en dialogo con Michael Tangeman\, writer and collector who has lived for many years in Mexico and is now based in Valencia since 2015. \nSobre el libro  \nOtras mujeres (La Luminosa\, Argentina-México\, 2024) is a long-term photographic project carried out by Judith Romero over the course of a decade. El libro reúne veinte retratos y testimonios de mujeres que han decidido no ser madres\, articulando fotografía documental\, historia oral y archivo personal para reflexionar sobre la autonomía\, desire and contemporary ways of inhabiting femininity outside the traditional mandates of motherhood. \nEl proyecto surge de una experiencia personal: the lack of visual and emotional references around the decision not to have children. A partir de ello\, Judith Romero inició una búsqueda de mujeres de distintas generaciones\, territorios y contextos sociales que compartieran esta decisión\, construyendo un espacio de diálogo\, listening and trust through extended meetings and intimate conversations. Más que registrar únicamente cuerpos o rostros\, las imágenes se aproximan a los universos cotidianos\, objetos\, memorias\, spaces and atmospheres that make up the unique experience of each participant. \nLejos de proponer una visión homogénea o clasificatoria\, Otras mujeres explora las múltiples contradicciones\, nuances and complexities of contemporary motherhood and non-motherhood. Tiene un grado superior en Fotografía por la escuela PIC.A Alcobendas\, and a Master of Arts in photography from the University of Brighton. She was a finalist for the photojournalism awards of the Santa María de Albarracín Foundation and winner of the New Talents Scholarship of the Gijón Photographic Meetings.. Ha tenido más de una decena de exposiciones individuales\, and has published three books.
