Amb obres com Conquistadores en Yucatán – La desaparición de Gonzalo Guerrero va demostrar que el color pot ser part del relat fins a convertir-se en un protagonista més en igualtat de condicions que qualsevol altre. La seua obra\, en constant renovació\, ha sabut unir la cerca constant d’innovacions estètiques i narratives amb el profund respecte i coneixement de la tradició valenciana\, tant de la il·lustració com del relat\, que va plasmar amb èxit en El pie frito\, amb el qual va guanyar el premi a la millor obra del Saló del Còmic de Barcelona l’any 1998. \nEn aquesta exposició es recorren aquestes obres per a comprendre’n el procés creatiu i la importància i funció de cada element artístic de l’obra de Calatayud\, així com el seu potencial i les seues influències.
