SUMMARY:The humanist legacy of SEMINCI: Melek Leaves
DESCRIPTION:Por tercer año consecutivo\, llega a La Filmoteca el ciclo Memoria y utopía\, one of the sections that are part of the programming of the Valladolid International Film Week (Seminci)\, created in 2023 in order to recover restored versions of forgotten or censored masterpieces and films. En la última edición del festival –la 70ª–\, The Memory and Utopia section was dedicated to highlighting the historical role of Seminci as a reference for social and humanist cinema in Spain.. \nDurante siete décadas\, el festival vallisoletano ha forjado una identidad basada en el compromiso y el más profundo humanismo\, being a pioneer in our country in giving visibility to films and authors (and authors) fundamentales\, as well as works that have been left out of the official canon. Among them are The Bridge (1959)\, de Bernhard Wicki\, the great post-war German anti-war film; The turn (Mandabi) (1968)\, de Ousmane Sembène\, who established the foundations of independent African cinema; the dazzling Lucia (1970)\, de Humberto Solás\, innovador largometraje en su estructura narrativa\, key piece in the development of the New Latin American Cinema; Harlan County U.S.A. (1976)\, documental de Barbara Kopple ganador de un Oscar\, que estableció los nuevos estándares del cine documental político y social\, o Ana\, uno de los films antropológicos y poéticos\, bellísimos\, by the Portuguese Antonio Reis and Margarida Cordeiro. Once películas que se alejan del canon cinematográfico e introducen las miradas de la periferia\, those of women or African and Latin American filmmakers. \nTras la curiosidad\, las ganas de aire fresco y de sacudir el tablero de la historia “oficial” del cine que caracteriza este ciclo está\, sin duda\, la impronta de José Luis Cienfuegos\, director of Seminci since 2023\, after directing the Gijón International Film Festival (1995-2011) and the Seville European Film Festival (2012-2022). Su repentino fallecimiento el pasado mes de diciembre nos priva\, a todos los amantes del cine\, de disfrutar de los proyectos futuros de uno de los hombres que\, desde Gijjón\, Sevilla o Valladolid\, he did more for the dissemination of auteur cinema in our country. Del cine menos convencional\, películas arriesgadas\, radicales\, relevantes\, because they are what keep cinema always alive and interesting us. \nCienfuegos (Avilés\, 1964 – 2025) ha sido uno de los grandes amigos y cómplices de la Filmoteca Valenciana\, which since the nineties has programmed cycles in collaboration with the three festivals it directed. We will have the presence of Mariona Viader and Javier H. Estrada\, que formaban parte del equipo de Cienfuegos como coordinadora general de y programador de Seminci\, respectivamente\, y han sido nombrados recientemente codirectores del festival\, which ensures the continuity of the Asturian legacy. \n26.02.26 DIJOUS / 20.15 h\n27.02.26 DIVENDRES / 18.00 h\nMelek Leaves\nDie Kümmeltürkin geht\nJEANINE MEERAPFEL. Melek Tez\, familia Kantemir\, Niyazi Türgay\, Maksud Yilmaz\, Erna Krause\, Etta Czach.\nAls seus 38 anys i després de viure catorze d’ells a Berlín occidental\, una treballadora migrant decidix tornar a Turquia\, their country of origin.

SUMMARY:Hiroshi Shimizu: Introspection Tower
DESCRIPTION:Després de l’èxit de la retrospectiva Kiyoshi Kurosawa\, The Film Library programs a new series of works from the Japan Foundation. Conegut per rodar en exteriors i en localitzacions repartides per tot el país\, he always showed in his stories a deep interest in the less represented: pels xiquets\, les dones treballadores\, travelers and people on the margins. \nEl cicle reunix una selecció de títols essencials que ens permet recórrer diverses etapes de la seua filmografia\, des d’una de les seues més conegudes pel·lícules mudes fins a un dels seus últims films\, directed in the decade of the 50. On Thursday 12 de febrer\, abans de la projecció de Japanese Girls at the Harbor amb acompanyament musical en directe\, inaugurem el cicle amb Alejandro Rodríguez\, coordinador cap de Fundación Japón a Madrid\, i Pablo García Canga\, cineasta\, film critic and author of this beautiful text about Shimizu (which you can read in full on our website). \n18.02.26 DIMECRES / 20.00 h Presentació del cicle a càrrec de Pablo García Canga\, cineasta i crític\, i Alejandro Rodríguez\, coordinador cap de Fundación Japón a Madrid.\nAcompanyament musical al piano a càrrec d’Arcadi Valiente. \n26.02.26 DIJOUS / 18.00 h\n01.03.26 DIUMENGE / 20.00 h\nIntrospection Tower\nみかへりの塔 / Mikaheri no tô\nHIROSHI SHIMIZU. Chishu Ryu\, Shinyo Nara\, Kuniko Miyake\, Masami Morikawa\, Bakudankozo.\nDes del seu amor a la infància i el seu particular optimisme\, Shimizu tells the story of a school where more than two hundred children with special needs live. A cadascun se li assigna un mestre i un cuidador als quals anomenen “mamà” i “papà”\, amb els quals l’escola busca que cresquen en un ambient familiar\, in addition to providing them with everything from basic education to professional training.
