Yayo Herrero: Building pending dialogues

The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (VAT) presents the publication of the exhibition 'Confluèncias. Between the archive and the intervention' with the participation of the anthropologist, engineer, teacher and activist, Yayo Herrero. Herrero is considered one of the most influential women in the fight against climate change in Spain., especially from the defense of ecofeminism. Herrero has been state coordinator of Ecologistas en Acción and has participated in numerous social initiatives on the promotion of Human Rights and social ecology..
Coinciding with this week's celebration of the International Day against Climate Change, Yayo Herrero, who has collaborated in the publication of the exhibition, will give a conference under the title 'Building pending dialogues between interconnected and parallel worlds'. The day will allow us to establish new perspectives towards a plural project such as 'Confluències'., where the invited artists and groups have raised different reflections on the territory in their interventions, on the outskirts, dwelling, the processes, care and memory.
After Yayo Herrero's conference, the curators of the exhibition will intervene, Sonia Martínez and Eva Bravo, who will present the publication along with some of the groups and artists participating in the project: the designer Jaume Marco and the artists Bleda and Rosa, LUCE, Laura Palau, Studying, Make Your Life, Maria Laudes, Guiu Gimero and Lucía Jaén (mediators CRA Riu d'Albaida) and Elena Rocamora (mediator CRA Palancia-Mijares).
To end the meeting, Laura Palau will present the documentary 'Terra d'Esguard', a film portrait of the interior of Castellón that delves into the ins and outs of what caused the exodus from the countryside to the city in Vallibona (in the Els Ports region). The passage of time and stories of struggle and survival are intertwined with the living reality of today's countryside., remembering the lives that once shaped the territory and revealing those that still spring forth.
