The Modern Delight (modern pleasure) invita al público al banquete musical\, where a series of comic masks and parodies parade: enamorados\, villanescas\, vendedores de husos\, stracciaroli (rag pickers) in Bolognese dialect and animals in a “bestial counterpoint” (perro\, cuco\, cat and jay). Con 20 números\, mixes serious madrigals with popular genres (villanelas\, ballets\, capriccios)\, satirizing ancient versus modern musical styles and commedia dell'arte characters. Banchieri\, monje olivetano boloñés\, publishes it in 1608 like opus 18 en Venecia\, precursor of baroque musical theater.
