The Essence is a Dutch band formed in 1984, with a sound that is between the first The Cure and the best Pink Floyd. The group is led by Hans Diener (voice, guitar) and currently completed by brothers Mark Tan (Bass and keyboards) and George Tan (Battery). Their music is a slightly dark pop (They define themselves as gothic pop-rock), with a singer whose voice vividly recalls that of Robert Smith.
The Essence have earned an excellent reputation on the European continent thanks to albums like “Purity” (1985), “A Monument Of Trust” (1987), “Ecstasy” (1988), “Nothing Lasts Forever” (1991) o el recopilatorio “Dancing In The Rain” (1994), as well as the strength of his live performances throughout his long career..
Currently they are still doing concerts, dedicating himself to playing frequently in Spain, Italia, Germany and the United Kingdom. The members of the group also began to do projects individually, and to collaborate with other bands and even DJs from all over the world, to give a new approach to some of The Essence's songs.
