DESCRIPTION:Temps Moderns proposa una revisió crítica de la col·lecció de pintura espanyola contemporània del Museu de Belles Arts de València\, focused on the period between the decades of 1940 i 1970. Este arc cronològic\, clau per a comprendre la modernització artística a l’Espanya que eixia de la Guerra Civil\, has traditionally been relegated in museum discourses as it sits between classical art and the latest trends of the late 20th century. The exhibition is organized around the acquisitions made by the State from 1968\, baix la direcció de Felipe Garín\, which show the desire of the Fine Arts Museum of Valencia to build a story about Valencian artists after the Civil War. A este nucli s’han sumat en els últims anys els noms de Francisco Sebastián\, Juana Francés o Aurora Valero\, providing a more comprehensive view of postwar creation. \nL’exposició s’estructura en tres nuclis: New figure; Postwar abstraction; and Landscape and still life. En la figuració s’observa una evolució des de plantejaments expressionistes cap a propostes de gran càrrega crítica\, especialment a partir dels anys seixanta\, amb col·lectius com Estampa Popular o l’Equip Crònica\, that incorporated visual strategies linked to Pop Art. Paral·lelament\, l’abstracció va ser progressivament assumida i promoguda com a emblema de modernitat\, generant propostes informalistes\, geometric and optical as those represented by Eusebio Sempere or José María Yturralde. El recorregut es completa amb el paisatge i la pintura d’objectes\, understood as spaces for identity and social reflection.
