DESCRIPTION:El libro será presentado por la fotógrafa\, en dialogo con Michael Tangeman\, writer and collector who has lived for many years in Mexico and is now based in Valencia since 2015. \nSobre el libro  \nOtras mujeres (La Luminosa\, Argentina-México\, 2024) is a long-term photographic project carried out by Judith Romero over the course of a decade. El libro reúne veinte retratos y testimonios de mujeres que han decidido no ser madres\, articulando fotografía documental\, historia oral y archivo personal para reflexionar sobre la autonomía\, desire and contemporary ways of inhabiting femininity outside the traditional mandates of motherhood. \nEl proyecto surge de una experiencia personal: the lack of visual and emotional references around the decision not to have children. A partir de ello\, Judith Romero inició una búsqueda de mujeres de distintas generaciones\, territorios y contextos sociales que compartieran esta decisión\, construyendo un espacio de diálogo\, listening and trust through extended meetings and intimate conversations. Más que registrar únicamente cuerpos o rostros\, las imágenes se aproximan a los universos cotidianos\, objetos\, memorias\, spaces and atmospheres that make up the unique experience of each participant. \nLejos de proponer una visión homogénea o clasificatoria\, Otras mujeres explora las múltiples contradicciones\, nuances and complexities of contemporary motherhood and non-motherhood. El proyecto entiende la decisión de no tener hijxs no como una negación\, sino como una forma de cuestionar las representaciones normativas de género\, así como los mandatos sociales\, family and cultural taxes historically imposed on women's bodies. \nLas protagonistas —provenientes de países como México\, Argentina\, Brasil\, Chile\, España\, Francia\, Polonia y Estados Unidos— revelan experiencias vinculadas con la infancia\, la religión\, la autonomía\, los cuidados\, the right to decide and the different ways to confront social pressure and stereotypes associated with femininity. A través de estas visualidades y relatos\, The project proposes a collective reflection on the diversity of possible ways of life and on the need to defend chosen motherhoods and non-motherhoods.. \nPublicado por la editorial La Luminosa\, Otras mujeres se sitúa entre la fotografía documental contemporánea y las prácticas feministas críticas\, entendiendo la imagen como una herramienta de memoria\, listening and social transformation.
