In 1980 Sam Shepard becomes the most produced author in theater in America after Tennessee Williams. Sam Shepard has written more than 45 obras de teatro\, eleven of which won the Obie Award. In 1979 He is recognized with the Pulitzer Prize for the Drama “Buried Child”. In 1986 fue elegido para “the American Academy of Arts and Letters”\, in 1992 receives the Gold Medal for Drama at the Academy. He was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame in 1994.
