SUMMARY:La Noche de San Juan
DESCRIPTION:The gestation of the ballet The Night of San Juan (Barcelona evenings)\, con música de Roberto Gerhard\, started in 1936\, under the influence of the arrival in Spain of the Ballets Russes de Monte-Carlo. La obra\, nunca estrenada debido a la Guerra Civil\, fusiona tradición y vanguardia\, situando la acción en las celebraciones del solsticio de verano en el Pirineo. Gerhard incorporó canciones populares catalanas\, como “Noche de San Juan” o “Patum de Berga”\, en un estilo moderno. Joan Junyer diseñó decorados inspirados en paisajes pirenaicos\, arquitectura tradicional y arte románico. Aunque se cree que Léonide Massine coreografió la obra\, no hay pruebas documentales. Esta producción recupera la versión inédita para piano que Gerhard tocó en privado e incluye una nueva coreografía de Antonio Ruz basada en danzas populares y el ballet de vanguardia.
