DESCRIPTION:Valencia City Council has today presented the new exhibition bet for this year: José Vergara Gimeno (1726-1799). Pintura\, fama i fortuna\, organized on the occasion of the third centenary of the birth of the famous Valencian painter and available until the next one 6 de setembre al Museu de la Ciutat.  A través d’una cuidada selecció de llenços\, esbossos i dibuixos\, l’exposició proposa un recorregut per l’obra d’un dels grans mestres del segle XVIII\, en el qual destaca el paper que va tindre en la creació de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos i en la consolidació de l’academicisme artístic a València. En concret\, the sample gathers a total of 85 obres d’institucions com el Museu de la Ciutat\, la Casa Museu Benlliure\, el Museu de Belles Arts de València\, el Museu de Saragossa\, la Fundació Bancaixa\, el Museu Nacional del Prado o el Museu Arqueològic Nacional\, as well as from several private collections. \nLa mostra oferix una visió completa i actualitzada de l’obra de José Vergara\, contextualitzant la seua producció en el marc artístic\, social and intellectual of his time. Així mateix\, the exhibition explores the stylistic evolution of the artist: des del dinamisme tardobarroc fins a la serenitat neoclàssica\, amb especial atenció en l’ús del color\, in the composition and in the ability to narrate sacred scenes with emotion and with technical rigor. L’articulació de la mostra es produïx a través de quatre dels huit grans llenços de l’antiga Capella de Santa Rosa de Lima\, realitzats per José Vergara\, sota el mecenatge de l’Arquebisbe Mayoral\, com a part de la decoració de la Reial Casa d’Ensenyança\, educational institution founded in the 18th century and currently the headquarters of Valencia City Council.
