Vangar presenta, in its space on Calle de Pedro III el Grande no. 22, the exhibition of the artist Lara Ordóñez. in the sample, titled Carmenar la tangle, the artist born in 1995 in Castellón invites us to explore its textile universe through works that mix ancestral techniques with a contemporary sensibility. The exhibition, presented on the occasion of the Valencia Open 2024, It will be his first individual in the gallery and will be open to the public from the 27 from September to 22 November 2024. In Carmenar the tangle, Ordóñez's creative process becomes a reflection on weaving as language and narrative. Each piece in the exhibition is born from a ritual of searching for materials where each fiber hides a story. Lara builds her works intuitively, remembering with each knot and thread the women who inspired her to weave and the generations who found in this act a form of resistance, refuge and expression.
Lara Ordóñez works on textile supports and techniques from a contemporary perspective in artistic production. He was educated at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he is currently developing his doctoral thesis. In recent years, He has participated in various artistic residencies in Spain and Europe, highlighting the La Rectoria Art Center in Barcelona and the Berlin Art Institute in Berlin, Germany. His work is included in collections such as La Escalera or DiGood Collection and has been exhibited in public institutions such as the EACC Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo de Castellón and the Espai d’Art Contemporani El Castell – ECA de Ribarroja. It has been awarded the Castellón Prize 2023 at the Mars fair.
