DESCRIPTION:Domestic Botany / Herbario Nuovo és una exposició que utilitza la tradició de l’herbari com a punt de partida per a repensar les cures\, la transmissió de coneixements i la relació entre les persones\, especialment les dones\, i nature. El projecte\, de Las Mitocondria\, duo format per l’artista María Ángeles Vila Tortosa i la coreògrafa Alicia Herrero Simón\, it can be visited in the Open Room and the cloister of La Nau until 22 of November. L’exposició pren com a referència l’Herbario Nuovo de Castore Durante\, a 16th-century botanical and medicinal treatise preserved in the University Historical Library. The work brings together representations of plants and knowledge about their properties and uses. A partir d’aquest referent\, Las Mitocondria traslladen la lògica de l’herbari al present per a explorar com s’han conservat i transmés els sabers sobre les plantes\, especially those linked to women and care practices. En les obres de María Ángeles Vila Tortosa\, les plantes deixen de ser únicament objectes de representació per a convertir-se en portadores d’experiències\, records\, therapeutic properties and stories passed down between generations. The project thus raises a look at a heritage of knowledge that has been developed in the domestic sphere and that has traditionally remained on the sidelines of official accounts of knowledge.
